This October, make the most of cyber security
With many more staff, faculty members and students back to Mac and in online environments, IT security remains important for our day-to-day activities.
Here is what you need to know about cyber security for October.
- Know how MFA can protect your accounts
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an easy, free and secure way to add an additional layer of protection beyond your account passwords. Also known as two-step verification, MFA prevents hackers from accessing your Microsoft 365 email and account — even if they have your password. McMaster / Microsoft 365 MFA is available for all members of the McMaster community. Check the MFA page to learn more.
Note: this service does not replace the Mosaic multi-factor authentication powered by Duo.
- Learn about GetMFA and take the quiz
October has arrived — and so has National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). This year, McMaster’s Information Security Services team presents GetMFA, a campus-wide campaign promoting cyber security awareness with a chance to win some great prizes, such as Apple AirPods, a Bose wireless speaker and more!
How to participate in GetMFA
For the month of October only, McMaster students, faculty members and staff can enter the GetMFA contest by:
- Completing the GetMFA quiz
- Registering for multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Finishing the quiz and signing up for MFA will double your chances to win!
Please note that if you have already signed up for MFA, you will be automatically entered into the contest.
- Use the Microsoft Authenticator App
The Microsoft Authenticator App is the recommended method for multi-factor authentication. To download the app and learn more, click here.News Category
