McMaster Represented at National Cybersecurity Forum
The Canadian SecuR&E Forum, hosted by CANARIE, is a significant event in the field of cybersecurity in Canada.
Now in its second year, the forum aims to build a community and foster knowledge-sharing by connecting those involved in cybersecurity to people and disciplines they may not have previously encountered. The event was designed to bring together a wide range of skillsets, including technical skills, policy development, insurance, law enforcement, education, and research.
This year, both Tracy Dallaire, the Director of Information Security at McMaster University, and Gayleen Gray, Associate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at McMaster University shared their insights at the forum.
In the session titled “From Recruitment to Resilience: Building Strong Cybersecurity Teams,” Dallaire shared her insights on the importance of building robust cybersecurity teams. This session highlighted the critical role of human resources in ensuring effective cybersecurity.
In another session, “From Insight to Action: Building a Secure Future for R&E Together,” Dallaire, along with Gayleen Gray, the Associate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at McMaster University, and Don Thompson, the Chief Information Security Officer at the University of British Columbia, discussed strategies for building a secure future for Research and Education (R&E).
Overall, the Canadian SecuR&E Forum 2024 served as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices in cybersecurity.
