McMaster IT Strategic Planning Update
It has been an active summer as we move forward with the McMaster IT Strategic Planning process! The beautiful weather and campus environment has helped to keep us energized.
Based on feedback and demand stemming from the initial five IT community sessions held in June, three additional sessions have been held to gather input. One session was held with administrative leaders, another with an additional group of IT community members, and a third with a group of undergraduate students. All three sessions incorporated activities to reflect on the new McMaster IT vision, campus IT culture and to craft inspiring ‘Digital Moments’ which involves collaborative storytelling to capture the potential of transformative technology and services at McMaster.
Our project team will continue to leverage the creative input from these sessions and map these against recommendations from the campus wide IT Services Review, completed in 2016. The outcome will provide the framework for the three-year strategic objectives for the McMaster IT Strategic Plan.
An IT Executive Committee Meeting was held on July 25th to update IT Governance committee members on our progress and gather their valuable feedback on the process and next steps.
And on July 30th the IT Strategic Plan Steering Committee regrouped to continue their important oversight and guidance on the McMaster IT Strategic Planning process. The planning session was once again facilitated by Gayleen and Meghan Kirwin, of The Kirwin Group. The session focused on refining the Guiding IT Principles and the stakeholder engagement strategy.
Now that it is August, effort is turning to the actual development of the McMaster IT Strategic Plan. This will continue over the remainder of the summer with a draft plan anticipated for the fall semester. Communications and engagement activities for sharing the plan will be forthcoming.
Stay tuned for more updates!
