McMaster IT launches “Women in Tech Summer Series” Featuring Female Leaders from Across Canada’s Higher Education IT Sector
The Office of the AVP and CTO at McMaster University is launching the “Women in Tech Summer Series” to distinguish and highlight women in the Higher Education IT sector across Canada.
From June – August 2022, higher education CIOs from across Canada will join McMaster AVP & CTO Gayleen Gray for virtual conversations. The series will cover a wide variety of topics unique to women leading the IT portfolios at Canadian universities.
“Building on our previous McMaster Women in Tech efforts, we are excited to continue to highlight the many talented and skilled women in Higher Ed . The diverse and exceptional stories, experiences and perspectives of our guests will inspire and empower women and men across our sector and beyond,” says Gray.
The Women in Tech Summer Series will bring together the following university CIOs:
- Sandeep Sidhu from Emily Carr University of Art + Design
- Jody Couch from Dalhousie University
- Nela Petkovic from Wilfrid Laurier University
- France Bigras from Concordia University
- Shari Baranuik from University of Saskatchewan.
Hosted and facilitated by Gayleen, our speakers will share their insights, advice and experiences working in higher education IT. The events are open to all in the Canadian Higher Education community. Registration is required.
The Women in Tech Summer Series initiative adds to previous efforts led by Gayleen Gray and McMcaster IT to recognize women tech changemakers within the University.
In 2020, the Office of the AVP and CTO launched the “McMaster Women in Tech” initiative, highlighting faculty members, students, staff and leadership who have been using technology innovatively across diverse areas as start-ups, education, IT security, equity and research. Such projects provide a platform for women to inspire and offer diverse perspectives on their experiences within IT and support each other. Further McMaster focused activities will resurface in Fall 2022.
