McMaster IT Executive endorses two projects – December 2020
On December 7th, 2020, the IT Executive committee met to review and discuss proposed IT initiatives. The following two projects were endorsed through the IT Governance framework.
Centralized Cellular Services : Phase 2 implementation will engage departmental coordinators and start building on our existing support, training and operational service processes around Cellular Services. This project will engage department coordinators and UTS Telecom resources, which collectively support Telecommunication services across campus to effectively fill any cellular administration and support gaps operationally across the institution. In addition, a Cellular Services Community of Practice will be formed to better understand processes, effort required, and needed policies. The proposal is available here: Centralized Cellular Services – Phase 2: Cellular Management Roadmap – Implementation – Information Technology – Collaboration Spaces (mcmaster.ca)
McMaster AODA Web Accessibility Compliance Roadmap: An AODA web accessibility compliance roadmap was proposed to align with the institutional commitment and capacity pillar under the EDI strategic framework and accompanying action plan and to mitigate the risk of AODA level AA non-compliance on January 1, 2021. The AODA web Accessibility Roadmap will support the McMaster campus in taking steps towards implementing WCAG 2.0 level AA compliance before the compliance reporting to the Ontario Accessibility Directorate by December 31st, 2021. The AODA Web Accessibility Compliance Roadmap is part of the recommendations in the McMaster Web Strategy (not yet endorsed). A copy of the roadmap is available here: AODA web accessibility compliance road map (mcmaster.ca)
Status updates for these projects will be available from the cto.mcmaster.ca site in early 2021.
Congratulations to the teams involved in preparing the proposals and the thoughtful and robust discussion at all of the IT Governance meetings to clarify the deliverables and goals of the projects.
