The McMaster Data Sharing Service (MDSS) is a new service intended to provide departments and faculties with a consolidated platform to host data for their custom applications. The platform will allow read access to institutional data (sourced from Mosaic) as well as the ability to create and share valuable data with other authorized MDSS applications.
It is anticipated that MDSS will breakdown information silos by providing managed access to trusted institutional data, reducing duplication and allowing for the creation of new, enriched sources of data. It will leverage existing technologies and resources to enable users to efficiently retrieve the data needed to build and/or integrate their custom applications.
MDSS will be setup and managed according to industry best practices and guidelines for database implementation and administration. It will use our existing database platforms and resources.
