There are large portions of the wired network equipment that is end-of-life, meaning that there is no support available if it breaks or requires updates. This project remedies that problem by making an investment in McMaster’s critical network switches. Infrastructure upgrades are planned for the weekend to minimize the impact on faculty, staff and students.

The Critical Network Switches working group is planning most of the project activity to take place on weekends to minimize impact to the community.  A detailed schedule of installations in each building will be available in the coming weeks, and specific dates will be communicated to known groups, departments and faculties located in the impacted buildings. Regular project updates will be provided to the full campus community.
