That’s a wrap! Connectivity 2021 comes to a close

February 22, 2021
Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed a few exciting changes in the Mosaic environment. From a new push notification feature to collapsed fields, these nimble changes are courtesy of the Rapid Release Champions.
Working on a monthly production cycle, the champions are professionals from HR, Finance, Campus Solutions, and University Technology Services (UTS) who are working to make your Mosaic experience the best it can possibly be. Rapid is right there in the name, because this team is looking to deliver one to two updates per month that will increase efficiency and improve your overall Mosaic experience.
After testing a few releases in October and November, the Rapid Release Champions are putting out the call to the broader campus for ideas. These monthly releases are a quick way to make small and meaningful changes to Mosaic. Don’t take our word for it, check out some of the features released to date.
Do you find yourself constantly checking your worklists in Mosaic? This new feature may streamline the process for you. While worklists still exist, the push notification feature lets you know when a new item requires your attention. A notification flag pops up in the top right corner and groups your pending approvals by action type (i.e. expense reports, time approvals) to make this process more organized.
The holiday season has arrived early for superusers in HR and finance. In response to your feedback, the Rapid Release team provided an added layer of security to prevent updates while critical processes are being run.
This is called a Component Lockdown and can be used for these departments to manage critical business processes in Mosaic, without the need for IT to intervene each time. When lockdown is activated for a page, individuals who are normally able to make updates will enter ‘View Only’ mode and will receive a pop-up message advising them of the lockdown.
For example, Payroll Calculation and Payroll Confirm have enabled this feature to great success. Updates to Paylines, Employee Tax Records, Additional Pay, and Direct Deposit are no longer allowed while these critical pay processes are being run, helping to reduce the number of payroll errors for employees. Connect with your local Rapid Release Champion (below) to see if your department has a critical process that could benefit from this enhanced level of data security.
Have you ever wanted to make small changes to a label on Mosaic? Or perhaps you’ve dreamed of hiding fields to reduce the clutter on your page. The waiting is over – the Rapid Release Champions are proud to present the Page and Field Configurator. In the past, changes to a label, fields, or setting a default value required customization, but no longer! Now, Mosaic support across the campus can make these changes more quickly with this new software update.
For example, HR advisors manually enter thousands of Direct Deposit records each year, but more than half the fields have the same data entered each time. This new feature significantly reduces the data entry time for this group. All departments across Mosaic now have the power to make these changes and create a better user experience. This means streamlining repetitive tasks and saving time!
There are many tasks in Mosaic that require the same information to be entered multiple times (i.e. the same information entered for each individual employee on a team of 200). A new feature, called Event Mapping, allows users to create a rule within Mosaic that autofills information in multiple fields.
Ever wish you could add links to supporting documentation, web pages, or other information directly to a page in Mosaic? With the Related Content feature, you can! Some pages in Mosaic Finance have recently been enabled with this feature.
