I hope everyone had a fabulous long weekend and that this ‘short week’ is off to a great start. The vibe around campus is always a bit different during reading week even though it doesn’t often result in a reduction in activities. Easier parking is a plus! As are shorter coffee lines (especially where the coffee outlets are closed!)
This week will possibly feel even shorter – or faster – as a result of our exciting Connectivity 2020: McMaster IT Forum this Thursday, February 20 (02-20-2020). We already have about 250 people registered!
Thank you to all of you who are contributing to make this event a reality through volunteerism, presenting, and leading interactive sessions and Birds of a Feather! You are playing an important role in this ‘for you, by you’ campus event.
For my part, I will be kicking off the day with Rola Dagher, the President of Cisco Canada. Almost exactly a year ago, I was on stage with Rola at the Longview Activate Digital event in Mississauga, discussing our Digital Transformation Journey. This time, we are focusing on the ‘ROI of DEI’ as a key element in digital transformation. Rola is an award winning leader. Her insights into the important topic of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) will be timely.
I am also going to be announcing an exciting initiative we are undertaking this year to highlight important female technology ‘ChangeMakers’ at McMaster! I hope you will come to hear about this initiative and to learn who our first recipient is to receive recognition for their contributions to the McMaster Tech environment. An exciting reveal awaits!
If you haven’t yet registered, please do: you can come for some or all of the day. I look forward to seeing you there!
That’s how I see IT this week!
