IT Governance at McMaster forms a pyramid divided into three sections: the base, the middle and the top. Various advisory committees make up the base of the pyramid. These include Cross-Functional Advisory Committee, Finance- Research Advisory Committee, Human Resources Advisory Committee, Student/Campus Solutions Advisory Committees, and Web Advisory Committee. These committees bring initiatives to the standing committees. The standing committees make up the middle of the pyramid. These committees include: IT Research Technology, Teaching and Learning Technology, Enterprise Administrative Technology, and Infrastructure and Information Security. The Chief Technology Advisor and the Technology Round Table provide advisory input to these committees. These committees bring initiatives to the IT Executive Committee. The IT Executive Committee makes up the top of the pyramid. They advise the standing committees and approve initiatives brought forward from the standing committees. They receive input from the Budget Committee. The IT Executive Committee brings initiative that cost between 2 to 10 million dollars to the Presidents and Vice Presidents.
